LEVEL 5 SPORTS THERAPY & REHABILITATION

This course is designed to enable learners to gain the necessary practical skills and knowledge to provide SportS Therapy to the general public, treat injuries and work within a sports environment

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Can I get the course funded by Student Finance? No, we do not work with Student Finance due to the high costs for us as a training provider, which we would have to pass on to students.  This would be unfair on those paying for the courses themselves.  We do offer monthly instalments which are interest free, to help spread the costs.

Do I need any other qualifications to start your course? No, if you do not have a sports massage qualification, you just need to book the programme with the access course.

Do I need to attend all sessions? Yes, unless you have covered any modules and been granted accreditation of prior learning (which needs to be done at the booking stage), you need to attend 100% of the modules.  If there are one or two you cannot attend for any reason, we will attempt to find alternative dates for you.

Can I fail the course? Students who do not complete the course usually do so because they have not been fully involved with it.  If any of our students struggle we offer as much support as is necessary.   Whilst the pass rate is very high, it is not a pay and pass course.

What can I do when I have completed the course? Once you have received your certification, you can register with one of our listed accrediting bodies, obtain insurance, and start practising.

Will I be a fully qualified Sports Therapist when I am certified? Yes, you can use the professional working title 'Sports Therapist'.

Do I need a degree, or to be registered with CNHC to practice as a Sports Therapist? No, you do not need a degree, and whilst there is no requirement for you to register with CNHC, we do encourage it, because you then become a registered sports therapist, and are part of an Accredited Register which is recognised by the government.  You can join the STO when you qualify from this course, and from there you will be able to register with CNHC. Not all degrees are recognised by the CNHC, however, our Level 5 Advanced Diploma is.

About the course

Our Level 5 Sports Therapy and Rehabilitation has been running for 22 years, and proves to be the most popular sports therapy course in the UK, and internationally, as we get students from across the world attending.    Sports Therapy is often percieved to be the alternative to Physiotherapy, however, whereas physiotherapists are trained to work within the NHS in settings such as geriatrics, paediatrics, resiratory and neurology, our Sports Therapists are trained to deliver musculoskeletal treatments for conditions such as sports and activity injuries, back pain, joint issues, postural dysfunction, pain, lack of mobility and also to support those with active lifestyles or wishing to become more active.

Accreditations

Our course is accredited by Sports Therapy Organisation, and will allow you to become a registered Sports Therapist, with the regulator CNHC.   You can also get international membership from IICT, with insurance cover.  You can see a list of the eligible countries here.

Pre-requisites

Candidates will need to have completed a Level 3 Sports Massage qualification (VTCT/ITEC/YMCA/AIQ).  If you do not have Level 3 Sports Massage qualification you can still book a Level 5, you will just need to attend our Access Course.  Please see below for dates.

If you feel you have covered any of the modules, you can apply to attend a accreditation of prior learning skills evaluation session in Manchester.  This will cost £200.  Any modules that you are credited for will be be deducted at £100 per day.
